Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been recognised for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a record-breaking innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a national radio breakfast show.

The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday, 18 December.

The ceremony will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her international debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being on the shortlist for this honour is incredible," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, smashing the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and burst into the spotlight with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin finished second in the season's run tally and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm deeply humbled to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it inspires more young women to get into cricket."
